Thursday November 6 1862
- Brig. Gen. Charles Davis Jameson, USA, dies aboard a steamboat near Boston, MA, dying from typhoid fever contracted during the Jun 1 Battle of Seven Pines, VA.
- Stephen Dill Lee, CSA, is appointed Brig. Gen.
- Federal expeditions from Fort Scott, KS, and skirmishes with Quantrill's guerrillas. (Nov 6-11)
- Skirmish at Garrettsburg, KY, as Brig. Gen. Thomas Ransom, USA, thwarts the Rebels in the area.
- Skirmish at Old Lamar, MS.
- Federal reconnaissance from La Grange, TN, toward Lamar, MS, and skirmish at Worsham's Creek, by Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant.

Friday November 6 1863
- Adin Ballou Underwood, USA, is appointed Brig. Gen.
- Action at Rogersville, TN, as Brig. Gen. William E. "Grumble" Jones, CSA, Cavalry captures Rogersville, along with 775 prisoners, 32 wagons, ambulances, 1,000 horses. However, by the time the horses got to headquarters, only 300 remained. Maj. Gen. Robert Ransom, Jr., CSA, commanding the District of Southwestern Virginia and East Tennessee believes the "missing" horses were appropriated by the men.
- Brownsville and Point Isabel, TX, is occupied by Maj. Gen. Nathaniel P. Banks' USA, expeditionary forces.
- Skirmish near Falmouth, VA.
- Engagement at Droop Mountain, WV, as Brig. Gen. William W. Averell's, USA, cavalry command continues to advance, defeating Brig. Gen. John Echols, CSA.
- Skirmish at Little Sewell Mountain, WV, with Brig. Gen. William W. Averell, USA.
Sunday November 6 1864
- Skirmish at Cane Hill, AR, with Maj. Gen. Sterling Price, CSA, after retreating from Missouri.
- Affairs at Fort Lyon, the Colorado Territory, where the new commander orders the arrest of all the peaceful Arappahoe Indians who have been camped 2 miles from the Fort and come everyday to the Fort for provisions, demanding all their weapons and horses. The Indians immediately agree to any demands made by the Yankees. The Commander proclaims they are all his prisoners. (Nov 6-16)

- The Confederate Commerce Raider, the CSS Shenandoah, after an illustrious career, surrenders to British authorities at Liverpool, England.
