  • Action near Spangler's Mill, near Jonesborough, AL, as Gen. Braxton Bragg, CSA, forces Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant USA, to retreat.

  • Skirmish at Mill Creek, near Pollocksville, NC.

  • Action at Dead Buffalo Lake with the Sioux Indians, the Dakota Territory.
  • Skirmish at London, KY, with Scott's Confederate Raiders.
  • Federal expedition from Natchez, MS, to Kingston, Liberty, and Woodville, burning a large cotton factory at the latter. (Jul 26-30)
  • Federal expedition from Plymouth to Foster's Mills, NC. (Jul 26-29)
  • Skirmish at Salineville, OH, where the remnants of Brig. Gen. John Hunt Morgan's CSA command surrenders near New Lisbon, or Salineville, OH, near the Pennsylvania border, where they are ordered to the Ohio State Penitentiary at Columbus, OH.
