  • Action against the Sioux Indians at the Tahkahokuty Mountain, the Dakota Territory, on the Knife River.
  • The Battle of Ezra Church, GA, where Gen. John B. Hood, CSA, attacks, and is repelled by, Maj. Gen. Oliver Otis Howard, USA, with tremendous loss of Southern life. Total casualties approximate 600 Union and 5,000 Confederate.
  • Skirmish on the Morgan's Ferry road, near Morganza, LA, with Brig. Gen. Michael K. Lawler's, USA, men scattering the Rebels.
  • Federal expedition from New Berne to Manning's Neck, NC, as Brig. Gen. Innis N. Palmer, USA, commanding the District of North Carolina, sent men aboard the gunboat, Whitehead, up the Chowan River to Manning's Neck to communicate with the cavalry at work on the Weldon and Petersburg Railroad.
