  • Gen. Joseph E. Johnston, CSA, is assigned to the command embracing Western North Carolina, Tennessee, Northern Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Eastern Louisiana, which places Gen. Braxton Bragg, CSA, in Tennessee, and Lieut. Gen. John C. Pemberton, CSA, at Vicksburg, MS, under his overall command.
  • Skirmish near Tompkinsville, KY, with Confederate Cavalry.
  • Federal expedition from Sharpsburg, MD, to Shepherdstown, WV, and skirmishes. (Nov 24-25)
  • Skirmish at Beaver Creek, MO.
  • Federal expeditions from Greenfield into Jasper and Barton Counties, MO, with the southwestern counties swarming with Rebel guerrilla bands, including William Clarke Quantrill. (Nov 24-26)
