Saturday September 23 1865
  • Skirmish with Indians in the Barney Lake Valley. Oregon, which action commenced at 12 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m. that night, the last hostilities occurring during the era of the American Civil War reported in the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion. It is finally over. Ironically, the last encounter reported has the Federals being routed, luckily escaping with only one injury.
