  • Affair at Centralia, MO, where a band of Confederate guerrillas, under Bloody Bill Anderson, which included Frank and Jesse James, sack and burn the town, massacring over 20 unarmed Union soldiers as they are arriving aboard a train. Later, the Federals are ambushed and 116 more Yankees are killed.
  • The Confederate attack on Fort Davidson, Pilot Knob, MO, by Maj. Gen. Sterling Price, CSA.
