  • The Unionists' camp near Chattanooga, TN, is dispersed by the Confederates.
  • The USS San Jacinto arrives at Fortress Monroe, VA, and transfers Confederate Commissioners, Mason and Slidell, as prisoners of war, to Fort Warren, Boston Harbor, MA, arriving Nov 24. This creates an international incident with England, which is undesired by President Lincoln.
