- Brig. Gen. Lucius Marshall Walker, CSA, dies at Little Rock, AR, from wounds received in a pistol duel the day before with Maj. Gen. John S. Markaduke.

- Skirmish at Stevenson, AL, with Maj. Gen. William S. Rosecrans, USA, and Gen. Braxton Bragg, CSA, the Chickamauga Campaign.
- Skirmish at Ashley's Mills, or Ferry Landing, AR.
- Federal expedition to Big Lake, Mississippi County, AR, against guerrillas. (Sep 7-30)
- Skirmish at Morgan's Ferry, on the Atchafalaya, LA.
- Skirmish at Holly Springs, MS.
- Skirmish near Jacinto (or Glendale), MS.

- Federal expeditions to Grand Lake, Grand River, Lake Fausse Pointe, Bayou Pigeon, and Lake Natchez, LA, under Brig. Gen. Robert A. Cameron, USA, commanding the District of La Fourche, with affair at Labadieville, (Sep 8). (Sep 7-11)
- Affair at Centralia, MO, where guerrillas stopped a freight train on the North Missouri Railroad, stealing 4 car-loads of horses.
- Skirmishes near Brucetown and near Winchester, VA, the Shenandoah Valley, Campaign.
- Maj. Gen. Benjamin F. Butler, USA, resumes the command of the Army of the James, the Richmond, VA, Campaign.
Thursday September 7 1865
- Skirmish with Indians at Powder River, the Montana Territory, as a Federal tracking party engage a party of about 40 Indians, killing two or three and losing one Yankee.
