- Skirmish at Alpine, GA, the Chickamauga Campaign.
- Skirmishes on the Atchafalaya, LA. (Sep 8-9)
- Union boat attack, under Admiral Dahlgren, USN, on Fort Sumter, SC, as the Fort is being reduced to rubble, but this assault is repulsed with about 125 Union men killed, wounded or captured. (Sep 8-9)

Friday September 8 1865
- Engagement with Indians at Powder River, the Montana Territory, as a large considerable force of Indians attack the rear of the Federal's wagon train.
