ACWS International Event
September 23 & 24 2017

The Chairman and Board of Directors of the American Civil War Society are proud to announce that the society will be hosting an International Event at Kelham Hall, Kelham, Newark, Nottingham NG23 5QX on the weekend of 23rd & 24th September 2017.

Set within the beautiful grounds of Kelham Hall we will be re-creating two key actions in the battle of Antietam/Sharpsburg namely the cornfield and the sunken road. On the Saturday we will re-create the battle in the cornfield for which Kelham Hall are planting a large area of corn for us to battle through and on the Sunday we will re-create the battle at the sunken road complete with picket fences.

Kelham Hall are planning to put on various other attractions over the weekend to include a Victorian funfair, brass band and hopefully a re-enactors market details of which will be posted here when they are available.

If you are attending from overseas please fill in the form for overseas guests and also send back to Claire Morris. Information regarding bringing weapons into the country will be posted here soon.

If you are a Cavalry rider please contact Roger Willison-Gray, who is in charge of horses, through the main ACWS contacts web page under Horse Master (click here) and can advise on all matters relating to horses.

Artillery crews are still needed. ACWS can provide the guns; we need gun crews. So if you are an experienced gunner from any period please come along. Our Health and Safety Director, Martin Cross, is in charge of artillery and can be contacted through ACWS main contacts page (click here).

There will be two main authentic camps and one family camp which is free of charge. Kelham Hall do have camping/caravan pitches available with electric hook up please contact the hall direct at the following address if you would like to book one: http://kelham-hall.com/camping

There are several local Bed and Breakfasts nearby, the nearest being the Kelham House Country Manor Hotel which is just across the road from Kelham Hall. Contact them direct for prices and booking.

ACWS are holding a dress rehearsal on May 6th-7th 2017 at Kelham Hall and all are invited to attend to go through battle plans and camp layouts more details will be posted here nearer the time.
