PLATOON DRILL
1. TO FORM COLUMN OF PLATOONS FROM A LINE OF BATTLE AT THE HALT
COMPANY - BY PLATOON - RIGHT WHEEL - MARCH
On MARCH, the right guide and the Second Platoon Corporal face right in place and each Platoon wheels on them. Each Platoon Commander then orders PLATOON - HALT as his Platoon completes a 900 followed by RIGHT DRESS - FRONT.
COMPANY - BY PLATOON - LEFT WHEEL - MARCH
On MARCH, the left guide and the First Platoon Centre Corporal face left in place and each Platoon wheels on them. Platoons dress right.
2. TO FORM COLUMN OF PLATOONS FROM A LINE OF BATTLE ON THE MARCH
Proceed as in (1) substituting FORWARD - MARCH for HALT. Platoons will dress on the march. Guides do not face but wheel normally.
N.B. in marching by column of platoons care must be taken to keep in line and to keep the correct distance between platoons.
3. TO FORM LINE OF BATTLE TO THE LEFT
PLATOON - LEFT INTO LINE, WHEEL - MARCH
On MARCH, each Platoon left guide faces left in place and each Platoon wheels on them
PLATOON - HALT - RIGHT DRESS - FRONT
On HALT, given as the two platoons complete a 900 wheel, the left and right flank of each Platoon should be in contact. On DRESS, Company dress.
PLATOON - RIGHT INTO LINE, WHEEL - MARCH
On MARCH, each Platoon right guide faces right for the wheel. The formed line of battle dresses left.
4. TO FORM LINE OF BATTLE TO THE LEFT WHILE ON THE MARCH
Proceed as in (3) substituting FORWARD - MARCH for HALT. The Company will dress on the march. Guides do not face but wheel on the spot.
